Girls’ Generation Taeyeon reveals SM Entertainment didn’t want to release their third album ‘INVU’

June 21, 2022

Girls’ Generation are gearing up for their comeback after releasing a teaser for their new reality show Soshi Tam Tam. But before their reunion, Taeyeon released a new album, INVU, in January, and it seemed SM Entertainment didn’t like it.

Taeyeon spoke about the story behind the release of her third full album and revealed that SM opposed the release. In fact, she first had to convince the company to let her publish INVU.

In an interview via AllKpop the 33-year-old revealed the staff were against the release of her album and she was the only one wanting to pitch it to the public. So she had to convince them to let her release her new songs.

I was confident and felt I had to convince and persuade the staff, she said. I sang the song and acted to better express the song.

Luckily it was easy to convince the staff and a lot easier to work on their new album. Her next goal, however, is to convince the audience with her offer.

Luckily, INVU became a great success despite all the worries. It garnered much acclaim and popularity, winning the Gaon Artist of the Year Award in the music category in February and topping the Gaon Digital Comprehensive Chart at #1 in March.

Of course, the netizens agreed with Taeyeon’s decision to release INVU. In a discussion WikiTree they said they had no idea SM was against the project as it had a good song.

Others claimed the album contained the best of the best songs and that it suited their tastes. Some even praised her concept and her hair and makeup.

Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation are gearing up for their long-awaited comeback after releasing a teaser for their upcoming variety show Soshi Tam Tam. JTBC Entertainment released a 50-second video showing the reunion of Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun.

rappler revealed that the series will follow each group member through different games. She would also give fans a glimpse into her everyday life.

Soshi Tam Tam is due out on July 5 before her comeback album comes out in August. It will be the first time fans will see Girls’ Generation together following their reunion at You Quiz on the Block in September 2021 and their last release of Holiday Night in 2017.
