Gentefied season 3: extended or canceled?

November 11, 2021

the NetflixSeries Gentefied is a comedy-drama that revolves around a Mexican-American man named Casimiro Pop Morales and his three grandchildren – Erik, Ana, and Chris – who live in East Los Angeles. The three cousins struggle with their desire to pursue the American dream while maintaining their identity. The family drama, created by Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chávez, originally premiered on February 21, 2020.

Gentefied skillfully uses humor to portray the complex experiences of immigrants in America and has received a lot of praise for it. The bilingual drama, with its mixture of Spanish and English, delves deep into topics such as Latinx identity, racism, gentrification and Mexican culture. With Season 2 dealing with darker topics and some serious situations, fans are dying to see more of their beloved characters. So is there going to be a season 3? Here is everything you need to know!

Gentefied season 3 release date

‘Gentefied’ Season 2 will be released in full on Netflix on November 10, 2021. The season consists of eight episodes with a running time of 26-34 minutes each.

And what about season 3? So far there is no official information about the extension of the dramedy for a third episode. It’s likely that Netflix will wait and see how well Season 2 goes before deciding the fate of the series. However, we’re optimistic that Gentefied will return for a third season as the series has been phenomenally received by both critics and audiences. While the most important plot questions are clarified in season 2, the ending leaves the door wide open for a third season.

If Season 3 gets the green light anytime soon, we expect it to come out sometime in 2022. We can estimate their arrival based on the Season 2 schedule. The cast and team reportedly began filming the second season in February 2021, which aired nine months later. So when you factor in the time it will take to renovate, produce, and post-produce, we can assume that the third season of Gentefied will premiere sometime in the fourth quarter of 2022. Now all we have to do is wait and see for the official renewal announcement!

Gentefied Season 3 Cast: Who Might Be There?

If Season 3 gets the green light, we can expect the main cast to resume their roles. These include Joaquín Cosío (Casimiro Pop Morales), JJ Soria (Erik Morales), Carlos Santos (Chris Morales) and Karrie Martin (Ana Morales). We can also expect the return of Annie Gonzalez (Lidia Solis), Laura Patalano (Beatriz Morales), Julissa Calderon (Yessika Castillo), Alma Martinez (Lupe Ladera) and Bianca Melgar (Nayeli Morales). It’s also likely that Clarissa Thibeaux (Bree Solano), Ivana Rojas (Sarai Damian), Manuel Uriza (Ernesto Morales), and Melinna Bobadilla (Melinna Barragan) will resume their roles if there’s a third season. We expect that there will also be new faces.

Gentefied Season 3 Plot: What Can It Be About?

In season 2, the cousins fight by all means to prevent Pop’s possible deportation. As the legal battle with the Immigration and Customs Service (ICE) continues, the Morales face their own internal conflicts. Chris grows together with Sarai, while Erik and Lidia struggle with relationship problems. The family is also fighting the impending loss of their taco shop, Mama Fina’s. On the lighter side, we see the Morales celebrating an early Christmas on the beach. In the season finale, Pop’s visa is approved and he can apply for a green card.

A possible third season could be about how the Morales are shaping their lives now that Pop’s impending deportation is over. We could see Erik and Lidia’s wedding, as well as Chris’s professional advancement, in Mexico City. Ana’s adventures in her new house could also come up on a return of the series. Boyle Heights gentrification could continue to be a major storyline. We really hope to see more of the great characters on the show!
