Also, Mathilda’s association with geniuses could cause more problems for Kristen and the entire team.

Evil Season 2 Episode 3 Recap

The third episode of season 2 of “Evil” is titled “F Is for Fire.” David tries to save the day by telling Sister Andrea everything he knows about Leland. He hands her his copy of the map, where he finds one of Leland’s marks and translates it. The team dives into a case of mysterious fires that have broken out at the home of an interfaith couple, the Castles. The main suspect is his adopted daughter, Mathilda, whose biological mother was an arsonist.

When Kristen questions her, Mathilda claims her innocence and instead talks about another man, who could be the culprit. Even the security videos don’t reveal any clues. After an intense investigation, Ben concludes that Mathilda could be in contact with an Islamic spirit, also called a genius. These accusations come back to haunt her when investigators find a chemistry kit in Mathilda’s room, the only possible explanation for the explosion.

However, the young woman is adamant about her innocence and predicts that the geniuses will return to haunt the others. Of course, Ben and Kristen are having a rough night. Later, Brian offers to organize an exorcism for Mathilda without consulting Jane. Ben suggests inviting an imam, an infallible Muslim leader equipped to pursue the spirit. As the case affects the group, Kristen is on the verge of losing control. She goes to a bar and meets a handsome man, but drops him at the last minute when her conscience prevents her from letting go.

Elsewhere, Sheryl tries to use Dr. Boggs to get closer to her daughter, but then discovers the truth. The exorcism begins shortly after, as Mathilda maliciously suggests that Kristen’s family may be in danger. Although these warnings seem hollow at first, Kristen is restless after finding the geniuses in her garden. The episode ends with Mathilda watching a fire consume one of her family’s garbage cans.
