Since its premiere on May 31, 2000, Survivor has brought courageous and fascinating people from different fields to light. Survivor season 41 introduced us fans to a number of interesting personalities, including Erika Casupanan.

Casupanan is the first Canadian to star in this popular reality show. Although she was barely seen in the first few episodes, Casupanan quickly grew into something to be taken seriously. Her funny personality and excellent communication skills have put her in the spotlight. Since the fans are naturally curious to find out more about them, we decided to take a closer look at their lives. Everything you need to know about Erika Casupanan can be found here.

Age and Ethnicity of Erika Casupanan

Erika Casupanan was born on July 20, 1989 in the Philippines. Her family is from Balsik, Hermosa, in the province of Bataan. After moving to Canada, she grew up in Niagara Falls, Ontario and currently lives in Toronto. As a Canadian citizen, Casupanan is one of the first from the country affectionately known as the Great White North to join Survivor. She prides itself on representing Filipinos and women of color on the show. Casupanan is passionate about travel and has visited a number of countries including Australia, England, France, Germany, Peru and Turkey.

The travel lover has also been to Belgium, Guatemala, Greece, the Netherlands and Portugal. Interestingly, Casupanan is an amateur boxer who was trained by well-known Canadian boxer Mandy Bujold. I was one of those kids who never played sports. It just wasn’t anything my family could do. As I grew up, I thought, okay, I’ll throw my hat in the ring and try something. I went from zero to 100, she explained. She has won prizes in amateur boxing competitions and is also a passionate fitness fighter.

The family of Erika Casupanan

Erika Casupanan grew up with her parents and grandparents, the latter taking care of her as the former were very busy with their work. She has a close relationship with her family. The 32-year-old calls her grandmother her heroine and even wears a tattoo inspired by her. Although she has a lot to do professionally, Casupanan always makes time for her family.

Casupanan started watching Survivor after her grandfather’s death to cope with it. Around the same time as the first season [von ‘Survivor’] At the premiere, my grandfather had passed away. At the time, I had never known anyone I loved who had died. It was really hard for me to come to terms with, and the show was just kind of an escape, she confessed. It seems that her family is very supportive of her in her endeavors. Casupanan’s relatives in the Philippines celebrated their participation in ‘Survivor’ season 41 by hanging banners with their picture in front of their city’s town hall.

Profession of Erika Casupanan

Erika Casupanan received her BA in Media, Information and Technoculture from Western University in 2011. She also holds a degree in multimedia design and production from Fanshawe College. But that’s not all! In 2012, Casupanan also received a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Relations from Humber College. That’s what I call a good education!

Before joining Survivor, Casupanan worked as a communications manager at Kijiji Canada. She decided to quit her job to attend the reality show because she wanted to start over. It was a sacrifice, but it was also one of the things that I felt it was time to close this chapter. What better opportunity to start a fresh new chapter than to venture into the craziest adventure in life? It meant change [in] my lifestyle. Something that used to define myself is gone now. It really enabled me to get into the game because I knew there were no strings attached to it. I am just who I am, she explained.

In the past she also worked as a senior consultant at Media Profile, a public relations and creativity agency. Although Casupanan’s height (1.70 m) is viewed by many as a disadvantage with Survivor, she makes up for it in her communication skills, physical fitness, and sharp mind. I was manipulative before I knew what manipulation is. I pursue my dreams relentlessly. The great thing about it is that you wouldn’t suspect that because of my youthful face and short stature, she revealed. We are sure that her martial arts skills will give her an advantage too.

Erika Casupanan’s partner

Erika Casupanan has not officially spoken about her love life. However, it seems like she’s had someone special for a number of years. It’s possible that she’s engaged, if not married, as her posts on social media seem to suggest this. Until Casupanan confirms her relationship status herself, however, details about her love life are just speculation.

Casupanan obviously enjoys showing off their travel adventures on social media more than anything. After paying off her student loans at the age of 27, she spends her hard-earned and well-saved money on travel and hobbies. We can’t blame her for it, because she really deserves it!
