January 12, 2022

The new year is only just beginning, but BTS is already setting new records. As of the beginning of 2022, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook are dominating the music charts worldwide and more.

Sure, it might be impossible to break new records early in the year, but we’re talking about BTS here. This group is not called a global phenomenon for nothing and is expected to continuously invade the music scene here and abroad.

Let’s start with the septet’s second Japanese-language compilation album, BTS, The Best. This LP has already surpassed 1 million copies in the Japanese Oricon charts (as of January 6) – the first time that an album has been K-Pop -Idolgruppe has sold so much. They are following the record set by BoA in 2005 and Queen in 2004, according to AllKpop.

The next album is the group’s English-language mega-hit, Dynamite. The song had been on the Spotify Global Charts for 500 days in a row since January 5th – the only song by a Korean and Asian act to do so.

Today Dynamite still ranks 71st with more than 1.1 million filtered streams. This is another feat for the longest-running Korean song in chart history.

Additionally, BTS has hit a new high with over 45 million monthly listeners on Spotify. So far, they have remained the Korean act and K-pop idol group with the highest peak monthly listeners on the app.

He became the top-ranked Korean soloist in Canadian digital song sales and debuted at number 2. He was also the first Korean OST to land at number 82 on the Canadian Billboard charts. In the UK, Christmas Tree debuted at # 1 on the Euro Digital Songs Sales Chart – the first song by a Korean soloist to make it to the top.

Lastly, Jimin achieved multiple hits and records in early 2022 after recording new music on KDOL. He finished first in the daily leaderboard poll, which put him at the top of the weekly and monthly leaderboards on the platform.
