Beyoncé, Britney Spears: A Dream Collaboration That Didn’t Happen

January 11, 2023

Music fans should have seen the collaboration of a lifetime, it just didn’t happen. Pop superstars Beyoncé and Britney Spears were supposed to be working on a project together, but it never materialized.

Queen Bey reportedly asked the pop princess to appear in her new music video, but nothing came of it. So what happened?

Page Six reported on the collaboration between the two superstars, citing multiple sources. However, the singers’ representatives did not respond to the publication’s request for comment.

Therefore, no one knows why their joint project was canceled. If it goes through, it will be the second time the hitmakers have worked together.

Beyoncé and Spears previously collaborated with another pop superstar, Pink, on a Pepsi commercial. The three sang the Queen hit We Will Rock You and dressed up as gladiators.

Enrique Iglesias made a surprise appearance in the commercial, which made it even more iconic. The collaboration is also said to be the Toxic singer’s second music-related project after she won her controversial tutelage, which lasted 13 years and ended in November 2021.

Her much-anticipated comeback came in August 2022 in collaboration with music icon Elton John. The two released a duet on Hold Me Closer, a remake of Elton John’s classic Tiny Dancer.

The track debuted at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Spears’ first Top 10 single in a decade. Alternatively, Beyoncé will release her new album Renaissance in 2021.

The album quickly topped the Billboard 200 chart and received nine Grammy nominations. Her latest single, Cuff It, made the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. From number 38, it easily climbed to number 10 in the week of January 14, giving the former Destiny’s Child member her 21st top ten single in the charts.

Cuff It was nominated for Best R&B Song at the 2023 Grammys, while Break My Soul, Plastic Off the Sofa and Virgo’s Groove also received Grammy nominations in the Dance/Electronic and R&B categories.

Elsewhere, Spears has once again unleashed a tirade against her mother Lynne Spears and younger sister Jamie Lynn. The post may have something to do with Jamie’s recent interview, in which she revealed that being Spears’ sister has negatively impacted her self-esteem.

Justin Timberlake’s ex referenced Reese Witherspoon and even mentioned Beyoncé, saying it got worse when she shared because people would ask more questions, just like her mom, like she didn’t know.

What do you think Beyoncé’s mom would do if this were done to her daughter? she wrote. Spears went on to say that Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, would just look at them like they were crazy.
