the Netflix-Animation series Arcane is based on the video game League of Legends by Riot Games and follows the orphaned sisters Vi and Powder, who campaign for the independence of Zaun through a rebellion. Though the sisters initiate their efforts to free Zauns from Piltover, the futuristic Upper Town, the turn of events forces Powder to take the form of Jinx to work for a criminal lord named Silco. The sci-fi series evolves through Vi and Jinx’s pursuit of the triumph of their opposing sides.

Developed by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, the series was originally released in November 2021 and was enthusiastically received by viewers around the world. Critics praised the captivating animation, narrative style, and masterful adaptation of the video game. After the successful first season, the show’s fans are sure to be wondering what happens to the second season, especially considering that season 1 ends with a cliffhanger. We’ll tell you what we know about Arcane Season 2!

Arcane season 2 release date

The first season of Arcane premiered on Netflix on November 6, 2021 and ended in a three-part series on November 20, 2021. The first season consists of nine episodes with a running time of 39-44 minutes each.

As for season two, we’ve got some exciting news to announce! On November 20, 2021, Netflix announced the renewal of Arcane for a second season. The extension was an absolute must for the streaming giant, as the series was number 1 among the most popular TV series after its premiere in 52 countries. So that the fans can be happy, the production of season 2 has also been announced for November 20, 2021.

But the avid fans of the series will probably have to wait a while for the series to return. Nicolo Laurent, CEO of Riot Games, confirmed that a release in 2022 is out of the question, although production for the second season has already started. Given the time it will take to complete the extensive animation work, we can assume that Arcane Season 2 will arrive sometime in the second quarter of 2023.

Arcane Season 2 Cast: Who Can Be There?

Hailee Steinfeld and Ella Purnell will lend their voices to Vi and Powder / Jinx respectively in the second season. We’ll also hear the voice of Katie Leung as Caitlyn Kiramman. We can assume that Harry Lloyd (Viktor) and Reed Shannon (Ekko) will also return. It’s uncertain whether Jason Spisak (Silco), Remy Hii (Marcus) and JB Blanc (Vander) will return and loan their voices, as their respective characters died in Season 1. The future of Toks Olagundoye (Mel) and Kevin Alejandro (Jayce Talis) is uncertain as the council is bombed by Jinx in the season 1 finale. It is also to be expected that numerous voice actors will join the cast in the second season.

Arcane Season 2 Plot: What Can It Be About?

The series’ first season begins with Vi and Powder joining Vander and others to clear Piltover from Zaun. The group’s actions end in disarray when Vander dies in an explosion caused by powder. After Vander’s death, Powder is kidnapped by Silco, a criminal lord who wants to turn the people of Piltover into wild monsters, and Vi is imprisoned. Meanwhile, Jayce and Viktor experiment illegally with arcane magic and develop the dangerous hex tech.

Powder’s association with Silco leads her to adopt a new persona named Jinx. Caitlyn frees Vi from prison, but both are kidnapped by Jinx. In the chaos that ensues, Silco accidentally dies and Jinx eventually delves into her new identity. In the season 1 finale, she uses arcane crystals in a rocket launcher to bombard the Piltover council chamber while the chamber agrees to grant independence to Zaun.

We can assume that season two will begin with the aftermath of the council chamber explosion. With Jinx taking his place after Silco’s death, the chaos in Piltover could continue. Vi will face difficult choices after her sister is fully transformed into a destructive force. With their relationship broken down, there could be a lot of arguments between the two sisters in Season 2. Caitlyn could help Vi control Jinx, but the two of them will need more power on their side. Fence’s independence could play an important role in season 2 as the deal to free the city is disrupted by the explosion.
