Based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Jack Carr, The Terminal List is a military action thriller series. She follows James Reece (Chris Pratt), husband, father and Navy SEAL team leader. After losing both his family and his team, Reece discovers their deaths are connected to a massive conspiracy. As he begins to uncover said conspiracy, he keeps a list of people directly involved in the deaths of his loved ones and eliminates them. A loose adaptation of the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the series is set in a world where people with superpowers exist but are solely due to certain drugs. The superheroes of this world are cynical, corrupt, and in many cases downright psychotic. They are controlled by a company called Vought International. The story primarily revolves around two opposing groups. The Seven is made up of the world’s seven most iconic heroes, while the eponymous group, the Boys, consists of vigilantes battling Vought and his superhero army.

Jack Carr, the author of the Terminal List book series, cites Tom Clancy, the creator of Jack Ryan, as one of his favorite authors. Although Ryan and Reece are very different characters, their stories are set in similar worlds. Ryan (John Krasinski) is a former Marine Corps member who now works as a financial analyst for the CIA. In the first season, Ryan concludes that the terrorist Mousa bin Suleiman used $9 million for unknown purposes. His discovery draws the attention of senior CIA officials, and he is taken to Yemen, where he meets Suleiman himself.

Based on the Israeli drama series Prisoners of War by Gideon Raff, Homeland primarily revolves around Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), a CIA officer who suspects that US Navy Sergeant Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) may have been killed during his years of captivity was placed in the service of America’s enemies. Despite these suspicions, she begins a torrid affair with Brody, who is married and has children. Homeland was one of the most influential series of the 2010s with its sprawling narrative, soap-style drama and unexpected twists.

Like The Terminal List and other entries on this list, Hell on Wheels is a revenge saga, at least initially. The story takes place in the years after the American Civil War. Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount) is a former Confederate soldier who becomes part of the railroad searching for the Union soldiers who murdered his wife and son. But much to his surprise, Cullen finds a life worth living on the railroad. The title of the series refers to the mobile camp that moved west across the Great Plains behind the head of the railroad.

The Punisher was one of the MCU series originally available on Netflix along with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. Like Reece, Frank Castle has a military background. When his family is brutally murdered, his character changes and he becomes the vigilante, the Punisher. The series begins with Castle systematically taking down all the gang members who murdered his family. However, he soon finds out that the deaths of his wife and children were part of a larger conspiracy involving certain elements of the government. Predictably, Castle sets out to destroy them all.

USA Network’s Shooter series is based on the 2007 film of the same name and American writer Stephen Hunter’s 1993 book Point of Impact. Ryan Phillippe portrays the series’ protagonist Bob Lee the Nailer Swagger, while Mark Wahlberg plays the character in the film. Wahlberg also serves as an executive producer on the series. Both The Terminal List and SEAL Team focus on the ordinary life of frogmen. SEAL Team is an action drama series created by Benjamin Cavell that details the everyday life of a Navy SEAL. The series revolves around Bravo Team, the most elite division of the Navy SEALs. As these brave people travel the world trying to protect their country, they must also confront the new realities of their lives. The plot of ‘SEAL Team’ alternates between a personal drama and a fast-paced action thriller.
