The end of the hobbit 2 leaves Kili, Fili, Bofur, Bard, and Tauriel in Laketown, Legolas hunting Bolg, Thraunduil being held in his wooded kingdom, Gandalf captured by the Necromancer, Smaug flying to Laketown, and the rest of Thorin and company regretting their decisions. When the song “I See Fire” started playing around the credits.
Make sure you keep the credits, because there is a particularly delicious song that follows “I See Fire.” This is, in my opinion, the true essence of Middle Earth. It’s a whole new sound and yet it has the same magic and wonder as the Howard Shore LOTR soundtracks. Too bad neither AUJ nor DOS have integrated more songs like “Beyond the Forest”.
