Explanation of the ending

This Ghost in the Shell-inspired short is one of Love, Death & Robots episodes the most technically impressive. The 3D animation sits somewhere between character and creepy, giving the whole a greater sense of realism, reinforced by the presence of spit and breaths on the screen at times. A woman flees after witnessing a murder in an apartment across from hers.

The murderer, concerned that his witness looks exactly like his victim, sets off in pursuit in search of answers. She takes him to an illicit sex shop where he obtains a gun. He continues to chase him until they return to his apartment. She kills him, looking out the window to see that an exact clone of him has now seen what she has done, an endless stream of copies of the man and woman caught in some kind of loop. Except they seem to change places every time.

love robots of death the witness explanation

In general, the end of episode 8 of Love Death & Robots It strongly implies that the duo are in an endless loop of cat and mouse. Therefore, the implications are that Zawora’s resemblance who was killed at the beginning had tried to kill “The Man.” Therefore, the reason why he chased after her was not to silence her, but to actually explain the entire misunderstanding. In the end, Zawora did not want to listen and the cycle continued. Which implies that Zawora will go after the human likeness only to eventually be killed and repeat the cycle.
