Hit & Run Season 1 Ending Explained

To Hit & Run season 1 finale, Segev arrives to save Naomi and finds the CIA and Mossad agents there. CIA agent Reese kills his Mossad counterpart, but is later overpowered by Segev, who escapes with Naomi and the newspaper. On the run, Segev receives a phone call from his cousin Tali telling him that his ex-wife Shira is dead and that their daughter Ella is missing.

Shortly after arriving in the United States, Segev tracks down the two minor criminals who were driving the car that killed his wife and brutally kills them. Moments before breaking his neck, one of the killers reveals that he killed Danielle for the modest sum of twenty thousand dollars. As a result, Danielle’s true killers remain largely unknown, even after the grieving husband kills the men directly responsible for her death.

It is revealed that Assaf, the Israeli intelligence officer Danielle was having an affair with, unknowingly leaked numerous confidential details to the secret CIA agent while they were together. At one point, we see Segev digging up a pile of diaries that once belonged to Danielle, which essentially signifies the vast amount of information he has gathered about Mossad covert operations.

When this is finally revealed, the Mossad kills her. The Mossad agent who questions Assaf and then tries to make a deal with Segev to get the diaries admits it in the season finale.

Tragically, he also says that it was perhaps a mistake to kill her, as the plot he uncovered is just as explosive for the two countries involved. Shortly after this revelation, he is shot and killed by CIA agent Reese, avoiding any further explanation about Danielle’s death. So, for now, it appears that Mossad is fully responsible for Danielle’s death.

However, since the conspiracy has yet to be fully deciphered, it is possible that other forces are at play and they will eventually reveal themselves. It is possible that the CIA was also involved in some way in the death of their agent, given that Reese and the Mossad agent appeared to be on good terms prior to the first shot of the second.

Later, Segev disappears from the radar and becomes a mercenary in Mexico, where he trains Mexican forces to fight drug gangs. Around this time, Isaac recruits him and meets his friend Ron. Ron and Segev were Isaac’s lieutenants, but ended up abandoning him when the latter’s crimes became too brutal. Some time later, Segev blamed his former leader and had Isaac imprisoned for 9 years. So she suspects that Isaac killed Danielle to avenge her betrayal.

Although it is not specified, Segev and Ron also met Naomi around this time, and the three spent considerable time living together. When her boss questions the credibility of her reports on Danielle’s death, Naomi also mentions that she and Segev had a brief affair 20 years ago.
