August 8, 2021

Find out which animal is Alive in the latest Netflix movie!

Live is available on Netflix! If you want to know which animal is the hero, keep reading! Alive, Netflix’s animated adventure, has a fun origin story. Lin-Manuel Miranda originally offered the film to DreamWorks in 2010, before Hamilton’s time.

The project landed on Sony Animation, where it was sped up and refined with High School Musical screenwriter Peter Barsocchini. Slated for a theatrical release in 2020, Vivo was eventually delayed to 2021 and later sold to Netflix, where it is finally available to stream.

Alive is the work of director Kirk DeMicco with music by Miranda and his collaborator Alex Lacamorien. When the film is based on the music and the love story behind it, it shines and evokes poignant emotions. But when directors try to introduce animal antics, he falls into the all too familiar traps of the more clichéd animated movies for kids. We tell you all about the animal that represents Alive.

What kind of animals is the hero?

Also known as honey bears, kinkajous are native to the more tropical climates of the rainforests of Central and South America and are also related to raccoons. They are recognized by their round heads, large eyes, and pointed snouts, along with their tails that serve as an additional grappling mechanism for climbing trees.

Live primarily in trees, kinkajous feed on raw fruits, and are often mistakenly considered endangered due to their rare sightings and nocturnal habits.

Various non-profit organizations have been established in various locations to protect kinkajous from captivity or trade.
