Explanation of the ending of A Papa Hors Pair on Netflix

Matt struggles to explain his relationship with Swan to Maddy, but the two get along well and Matt begins to spend more time with his new girlfriend, which sometimes disappoints his daughter. When Maddy is injured at school and taken to the same hospital where her mother died, Matt’s world falls apart because he feels guilty that he wasn’t there to protect her. In his guilt, he pushes Swan and takes Maddy to live with her grandparents.

Back in Boston after leaving Maddy with her in-laws, Matt prepares for a business trip. At the airport, he sees all the moments he spent with his daughter parading in front of him and realizes that he would rather be with her than anywhere else. Maddy is delighted to see her father return so soon, and the two return home to Boston. Matt apologizes to Swan and, with Maddy’s consent, the three of them go shopping for ice cream.

Thus ends the moving story of “parenthood,” even though Matt and Maddy’s journey is far from over. At the airport, Matt realizes that their time together is the most important thing. So it’s not that your priorities suddenly change at the airport. Rather, he realizes that he cannot miss his daughter’s childhood thinking only of her future.

Matt’s conscience touches on the film’s central theme and its greatest conflict. Whether what he does is best for Maddy or not. Matt constantly doubts his actions for the same reason and blames himself when his daughter is hurt because he believes he has put his best interests before his own. He realizes that the best thing he can do is what he has already done, which is being around her as a child. Perhaps this sentiment is best expressed by what father and daughter say to each other when they meet again towards the end of the film: “Wherever you are, I want to go.”

The challenges of raising a child are explored in An unmatched dad, with different characters that remember their experience as new parents. It seems to go against the view that a single man who works in the city and is a new father could raise a son. Yet, against all odds and against popular opinion, Matt does an admirable job raising his daughter that leaves even his bitter stepmother in awe.
