However, in October 2021, a fan-made trailer for a movie called Spiderman Lotus caught the attention of millions of viewers around the world. What is Spiderman Lotus?
Spiderman Lotus is an upcoming fan-made indie film based on the titular superhero from the pages of Marvel comics. It is in no way associated with Sony or Marvel Studios. The first teaser for the film was released in July 2021 on the official YouTube channel of YouTuber Gavin J. Konop, who writes and directs the film.
However, it was in October 2021 that Konop and his team released a full trailer for Spiderman Lotus. Meanwhile, the trailer’s production quality, costume design, background music, and Konop’s acting were top-notch. As a result, the trailer started to catch the attention of Spiderman fans. And the creator managed to raise over $250,000 through crowdsourcing to complete the film.
What is the story of Spiderman Lotus?
Fan-made comic book character movies aren’t a new phenomenon, but the quality of Konop’s endeavor has captured the attention of millions. One of the main reasons for people’s attention towards the film is that the script seemed captivating. Spiderman Lotus follows Peter’s story after his lover Gwen Stacy is killed in a tragic incident. Just like Andrew Garfield’s version of Spiderman.
In the film, Pewter meets a terminally ill child who is a huge Spiderman fan while dealing with the internal dilemma of whether or not to continue his web adventures living a normal life while mourning Gwen. The adaptation draws inspiration from several comic books, including 1984’s The Kid Whoo The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man written by Roger Ster.
The racist scandal hinders the film!
Buzz was very high for Spiderman Lotus after the brilliant trailer. Meanwhile, recently, the film has been shrouded in unwanted controversy. Due to several racist remarks made on their social media accounts over the past few weeks, the film’s lead actor and director, Wayne Warden and Gavin Konop, have received a ton of ire from fans.
Direct messages from A-list actors Wayne Warden and Gavin Konop have been released. They contained harsh language, including several references to black people, racial slurs and homophobic remarks. Both Warden and Konop commented on the incident on their Twitter pages; Warden attributed the language to his background, while Konop decided to stop using social media. The future of the film is still uncertain at this time.
