The legendary actor and pilot, in the most ironic gesture possible, summoned Corden to Hollywood Burbank Airport at the blackout hour of 5 a.m. before whisking him off to a desert for a surprise series of rides in a vintage fighter plane. Corden, who Cruise has entertained chemistry with at all times, protested the idea and even tried to run away. But, ultimately, he found himself behind Cruise, despite further protests after being told he would have to be thrown off the plane if anything went wrong.
