Fans went crazy when Jonathan Majors debuted as kang the Conqueror in the Loki finale, with his appearance instantly fueling theories that the time-traveling tyrant was to be the MCU’s next big bad. What’s more, continued Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Breaking reality, it’s widely believed that the next big Avengers-level event movie could be an adaptation of Secret Wars.
So the obvious conclusion is that Kang would be the main villain of an MCU version of Secret Wars. Except that idea seems to make a lot of comic book readers angrier than the Hulk. ‘Kang’ is trending on Twitter today as Marvelites let it be known that they would revolt if Marvel ever took Doctor Doom out of the equation in a Secret Wars browse.
It all started with a viral tweet from @hradesi14 that described Kang as the new Thanos. But many believe that Victor Von Doom deserves this honor.
but… Doom is the one who started the two secret wars? why Kang would be your next Thanos?? https://t.co/ZAlkyRbnEh

If they follow the comics, Doom rebuilds Ultron and he kills Kang… Kang isn’t the new Thanos. Not even close in this story. https://t.co/A44gTUKBHc

hope they don’t replace doom with kang for secret wars

That’s what people want.
Give me Secret Wars as 2025 but give me Doom as Bad not Kang

Don’t even try to replace it, Marvel.
If you’re making Secret Wars the next Endgame… Doctor Doom has to be the next Thanos. Not Kang. Don’t even try to replace it. pic.twitter.com/HvRi3yMoOy

Doom is the real new Thanos.
If MCU fans REALLY need to put Kang in MCU terms, he’s your new Loki, not the new Thanos. He’s a very important villain and will appear a lot, but he’s not the final boss of this arc. Doctor Doom is your new Thanos.

There is no Secret Wars without Victor.
Kang wasn’t even the bad guy during the Secret Wars of the ’80s. It was still a disaster. Doctor Doom was the villain of both Secret Wars. you can’t do any secret wars interpretation without a well-developed doctor.

That is to say lightly…
Guess some people aren’t interested in Kang the Conqueror being the big bad in SECRET WARS https://t.co/mj2sm1Axr2

There have been a lot of Secret Wars controversy online lately, as comic book readers previously gunned down fans who thought a movie of the 2015 event would lead to tons of cameos, when it’s more of a focused arc on the characters centered on Mr. Fantastic and Doctor Doom. An adaptation of the original from the 80s Secret Wars might lead to more crossovers, but Kang isn’t that bad either. So it remains to be seen what Kang’s ultimate battle will be and when and where Doom will make its MCU debut.
What we do know is that the majors will return next February Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawith a The Fantastic Four restart planned later in 2023.
