Inside the Mind of a Cat review – stealth documentary about domestic cats

August 19, 2022

The Netflix documentary Inside the Mind of a Cat was released on the streaming service on August 18, 2022.

Netflix has just released its latest documentary, and this one is for serious cat lovers. Forget everything you think you know about cats, as a panel of experts are using science to challenge perceptions. With a duration of 1 hour and 7 minutes, this documentary is easy and informative to watch. While we love watching videos of cute and playful cats, here we have an in-depth look at why they act the way they do.

Some people think cats don’t have much to offer, but this documentary is here to prove them wrong. Cats are smart, cheeky, caring and of course crazy. There’s a reason they rack up millions of views online, funny cat compilations make people happier after watching them. Cats have an interesting history which is briefly touched upon, and we are taken around the world to see famous historical cats and the traditions that have come into being thanks to them.

We learn things like a cat’s “slow blink,” which is when a cat shows you that it’s happy and friendly. When cats greet each other, they touch their noses, so with a human you should offer your hand, so they can smell it first. If they like you, they’ll rub your face. Don’t come up to the cats from above, they will take it as a threat and it will be intimidating.

If you wish, you can take away knowledge and advice to help you build your relationship with your cat. The more research there is on cats, the more we can learn, but really it will always be about how we can serve cats. Having been a cat mom and sister all my life, I know that cats have a superiority complex and love to be loved; on their terms.

There are scenes from America’s got Talenyou, and experts suggest that if you learn a cat’s secrets, you can train it to do anything. Personally, I wouldn’t want to train mine to be a show cat, I like him to be crazy and then lazy. Not only do we have beautiful furry babies on our screens to gush about, but there are also photos of big wild cats like cheetahs, showing off their comparisons.

Although I think it was a bit short and ended up wanting more, it’s still a good watch. I hope we learn more and have another documentary soon. If you love cats and animals in general, you might learn something you didn’t know before and be able to take away new information to share with your friends and other cat owners. As it is clearly explained and has short cartoon sections and funny video clips, this documentary is suitable for both adults and children.
