The Seven Deadly Season 5 Episode 22 Spoilers
In Episode 21, as Gil, Howzer, and Griamore celebrate the end of the Holy War, Vivian emerges out of nowhere and says cryptically, “When the balance between light and dark falls apart, chaos follows.” He later reveals that he often heard Merlin say this. Meanwhile, the Sins enjoy the celebrations. Elizabeth asks Merlin if Merlin wants the burn removed from his skin. In response, Merlin asks if he is ugly. Elizabeth responds that it is beautiful. The Sins then discuss their wishes. When the time is right for Merlin, he takes his companions to the Magic Lake and pulls Arthur’s body out of the boar hat, intending to resurrect him.
The spell seems to be working. Excalibur, who was impaling Arthur’s body, disappears and Arthur awakens. Merlin observes that, of all races, humans are capable of most contradictions and that contradictions invite chaos. It also states that only a Chaos Priestess can choose the Chaos Leader. And obviously she chose Arthur. She implores Arthur to embrace the magic within him and become what he was always meant to be. Chaos magic suddenly takes hold of Arthur and unleashes an absurd world. Finally, with the help of Merlin, Arthur manages to master his new magic.
The Princess of the Lake tells the Sins about Merlin’s past. After meeting Meliodas, she was attracted to him, but their feelings weren’t mutual. Then Meliodas met Elizabeth, and that was the end of his romantic aspirations. Then he set about acquiring knowledge. He learned that chaos had created the Supreme Deity, the Demon King, and the World Tree. However, the Supreme Deity and the Demon King have locked up Chaos. The Lake Princess reveals that Merlin has made deliverance from Chaos his life’s mission. In episode 22, Merlin’s plan will likely be revealed in more detail. It is possible that she helped create the Sins to trap the Supreme Deity and kill the Demon King so that Chaos would return to the world.
