Hige wo Soru Episode 5 Spoilers
In episode 4, Sayu tells Yoshida that she wants to do a part-time job at a convenience store. Yoshida happily agrees, noting that this way she won’t be crammed into her little apartment all day and will make friends her own age. At the store, she quickly befriends her colleague Asami Yuuki. When Asami learns that Sayu is living with someone who is “like her brother,” she invites herself to his home and is amazed at Yoshida’s incredible decency.
While accompanying her home, Asami asks her the truth because she didn’t believe what Sayu and Yoshida told her about their situation. Yoshida graciously refuses to say anything, stating that if Sayu is comfortable now saying that he is like her brother, then he will respect her wishes. Upon leaving, Asami comments that Yoshida should be careful, as Sayu is good at using different smiles.
At work, Airi notices that Mishima and Yoshida are still very close and asks him to come back to dinner with her. Yoshida forwards the message to Sayu, telling her that she will be late. Sayu is frightened by the sudden frequency of meetings between Yoshida and Airi, fearing that she will be left out again. Over dinner, Airi admits that she loves Yoshida but did not accept his confession because she thought it was not the right time, causing Yoshida to say that it is incredibly unfair. He tells her that he will never approach her again, but that he will wait until she offers him a date.
Airi agrees and asks what her own situation is. The episode ends when Sayu finds out through a message from Yoshida that Airi wants to meet her. In episode 5, Sayu and Airi were finally able to meet. The latter could help Sayu face her reality and serve as an older sister in her life. Yoshida is kind and compassionate, and that’s something Sayu really needs. But she also needs someone who can help her understand her personal responsibilities as she approaches the threshold of adulthood, and Airi can be that for her.
