Tetsuya Nishio and Hirofumi Suzuki handled the character design. Yasuharu Takanashi from the rock band YAIBA composed the music for the anime.

In episode 203, Kawaki continues to repair the vase but cannot find the last piece. When Naruto tells him that he is useless, Kawaki breaks down and tells the older man that he is not his father.
