In episode 3, the spearhead unit spends their day off relaxing and having fun, knowing that these moments are fleeting for them. Lena continues to converse with the members of the spearhead, much to the discomfort of some and the surprise of others. Kureha gets angry at what she presumes is a growing connection between Shin and Lena. On the other hand, Kale takes an active interest in her new teacher and asks him why he cares so much about them. In response, Lena talks about an 86er who saved her life. Her encounter with him shaped her view of the world.

After a short break, Kale asks if she is a virgin, as her views are idealistic and innocent. He continues to advise Lena not to get attached to them and to seek transfer to another unit.

Lena acquires a classified and updated map of Shin and the spearhead. She helps them use it on their next mission, but Kale finds himself trapped in the swamps and appears to be killed. When Lena tries to apologize to the others for not warning them of the swamps in time, Theoto suddenly lashes out at Lena, calling her a hypocrite. He claims that she never bothered to learn their names when he claims to consider them equal.

The episode ends with Lena’s mental health suddenly deteriorating from this exchange. In Episode 4, the Imperial Legion may attempt to seize Kale’s body. Shin and Lena could get closer due to their common bond with Shin’s brother, who is also the person who saved Lena as a child.
