Until 1970, millions of African American families left the southern United States to settle in northern cities. They were forced to travel thousands of miles seeking protection from Jim Crow laws.
Produced by Lena Waithe, Them, the new anthology series tells the story of the Emory family. African Americans who moved to a new neighborhood in California in 1953, made up exclusively of white families. They face racism from their new neighbors who will do everything possible to eliminate the African American family.

The first season of Them consists of ten episodes, each lasting between 45 and 60 minutes. They are available from July 23, 2021 on the streaming platform. The anthology series follows the terror that Henry, his wife Lucky, and their daughters Ruby and Gracie fall victim to by their new neighbors.

Created by Little Marvin, the Emory family is played by Deborah Ayorinde (mother), Ashley Thomas (father), Melody Hurd, and Shahadi Wright Joseph (daughters).
